Spring is here, which means Victoria’s best farmers’ markets have officially reopened! Now is the time to start adding a trip to the farmers’ market to your Saturday or Sunday morning routine. Whether you’re in need of fresh produce, handmade artisanal jams, or locally-made cheese, you can find it all at the three Victoria farmers’ markets below.

Bastion Square Sunday Market

In the heart of downtown Victoria lies the Bastion Square Sunday Market. As you might expect this market is set up in Bastion Square and is open every Sunday from May until September. This market specializes in artisanal items from jewellery and artwork to clothing and leather goods. You’ll also be able to find coffee, fresh baked goods, and live entertainment most Sundays.

Esquimalt Farmers Market

The Esquimalt Farmers Market is open for business! This beloved farmers market takes up residence in Memorial Park on Thursday evenings from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm. This is one of the newer markets in the area, having opened in 2014, but it’s quickly made a name for itself. All items are locally made, grown, or baked, and include everything from fresh produce to candles, tea, and jewellery. They have even set up designated picnic areas in Memorial Park for market-goers to relax and enjoy the goodies they purchased.

Moss Street Market

Though the Moss Street Market is open year-round, May marks the beginning of their regular season, which means extended hours and even more vendors! Located in both Brooke Street Park and the Sir James Douglas School Grounds, this Victoria farmers’ market promises to deliver fresh, organic produce, homemade bread, Salt Spring kombucha, and locally made cider, among other items.

If you’re visiting Victoria this spring, summer, or fall, then be sure to check out one of the farmers’ markets above. And if you need a place to stay during your visit, we’d love to host you at the Best Western Victoria Inner Harbour. We combine a top-notch location, just a short walk from the Bastion Street Sunday Market, with affordable rates and family-friendly amenities.
